Do you have a book or series that is like a warm comfy blanket and is your go to when you want something fun and light-hearted? For me, The Neighbor from Hell series is my go to series, and The Game Plan did not disappoint.

The Game Plan is set around another Bradford boy, Danny, who is cousins with Jason and Trevor from previous Neighbor from Hell stories. These books are stand-alone books but R.L. Mathewson does a great job weaving in previous characters into the current story. I appreciate that she does this, as I love to see the story continue for characters from previous stories.

Just like previous Neighbor from Hell books, the story circles around a Bradford boy making a poor innocent girl life hell, and Jodi (aka Tinkerbelle) is the latest neighbor and victim.

“She’s just the woman that rents the apartment across from me and that I torment for my own entertainment when I’m bored or I’m just in the mood to piss her off”

Staying with the tradition of other The Neighbor from Hell books, the story makes several references to the famous voracious Bradford appetite. However, with The Game Plan, R.L. Mathewson has stepped it up and made several references to Zoe’s horrible cooking as well as Jodie’s unusual reaction to medication. These scenes had me laughing out loud, which got me questioning looks from people around me.

“Her cooking usually isn’t dangerous unless it has been exposed to air for more than two hours. Then,” Aidan shrugged, gesturing towards Danny should with a tilt of his chin, this happens.”

“What exactly is ‘this’?” he asked, look down at the hive-like thing covering his shoulder.

“It’s a cross between a bacterial infection and an allergic reaction,” Aidan absently explained as he carefully measured out the medicine. “We’ve tried to hit this from both sides, but we’ve found that it takes a combination of antihistamines, penicillin, and vaccination or two to kill it.”

While The Game Plan is light hearted, funny story – it does tackle underlying issues both Danny and Jodie have when it comes to relationships. We see this unfold throughout the story as they go from enemies to lovers, and it makes the story feel real and relatable.

“You are the best part of my day, Tink. You make me feel whole and happy and when I’m not with you, I’m thinking about you. I’m not in love with you, but I know that I can’t live without you.”

"You want me?" she asked with a watery smile.

"More than my next breathe”

HA! Okay..this Neighbor From Hell Series is #5 and has been one of the funniest,hottest books in the series.

Once again a Bradford man causing havoc in the world. This time around we are introduced to Danny Bradford who is giving his neighbor Jodi a hard way to go. Just like the blurb says- she has a choice break her lease or deal with an awful neighbor (hence kill him)? Obviously, you all know what she chooses. I fell deeply and madly in love with Danny, he was kind, gentle and just wanted to find love like the rest of the family. However, he didn't want to fall into the Bradley LOVE curse, he had a game plan to have the girl fall in love with him, not him fall in lover with her.

One of the most entertaining times in the story was whenever Jodi was doped up medication. I literally had an open mouth laugh. The thought of being "intoxicated" whenever any medicine was injected was really scary, but funny in this story. You become to love Jodi and Danny, and give Jodi lots of credit when dealing with the Bradford cousins and brothers. You feel for Danny, as being a combat war solider, you see how the after maths of an injury can lead to. Danny was anything but lonely with his brothers/cousins in the way, but was so lonely in the heart.

We still have the typical MO of a Bradley, being banned from restaurants, uncontrollable eating appetites. Don't worry... their still all banned EVERYWHERE.

RL Mathewson isn't done with the Neighbor from Hell series.. next she brings us another brother... I cant wait!
With all the crazy in depth books I've read lately this one was such a great change of pace! Love this series it's truly a I'm laughing so hard I am crying sort of book. Once again R.L. Mathewson has put together a heart warming, inappropriate humor depiction of yet another Bradford falling in love.

Danny lives across the hall from Jodi and it is his life mission to make her absolutely crazy. He has dubbed her Tinker-bell on the fact that she is a seriously short blonde with green eyes and she's a fireball. A fireball he comes to realize he can't live without. Jodi is the cute little sister type and has always been surrounded by guys. Guys who are ensconced in the friend zone. Every guy she's ever met has lasted less then one date before succumbing to the friendship curse. Except one who humiliated her by leaving her at the alter with a ton of debt. Then there is Danny, he makes her want to commit murder. In fact she plots his demise several times. Along with murderous rage though he makes her feel. Makes her crave a relationship with him on a level she's never had.

It took me about 2 days to read this one and I couldn't put it down. I loved getting deeper and deeper into the Bradford family. Loved seeing little glimpses of past characters. In fact it's Zoe's lack of cooking skills that open up the door for Danny and Tinker-belle to bond... Over Jodi's strange reaction to all things medicine. throughout the book we see some of the hilarious Bradford behavior we have come to love over the years and a few interesting dynamics we haven't. Danny is a cousin so he's a Bradford but he's different. He actually has some control, not much but some over his appetite. He like the rest of them is a little dense figuring out he's in love but once it hits him he sets out to do what every other Bradford has done. Nope no wedding for a Bradford, he will risk the same consequences as his cousins and kidnap his bride, Only this time it backfires and he might have lost her.... Loved loved loved these two. I think they just might become my new favorites. If your looking for a funny, sometimes sweet, sometimes out and out just wrong storyline. This book is a must read. I love this series and recommend it!
