ADHD is a genetic condition that usually has an onset prior to the age of 4. It presents with hyperactivity, impulsivity, inattentiveness, irritability, and aggression. Due to the fact that all toddlers show some "ADHD behavior" it's challenging to discern if behavior falls "within normal limits" or if it is "clinically significant" Learn the distinction. Toddlers & ADHD shares the latest research on the diagnosis and the treatment of 1-5 year olds with this condition in chapter 6, which is the heart of the book, but the many of the chapters can be applied to anybody with ADHD, no matter how old! No matter what age, the goal is to reduce the child's ineffective symptoms, which will subsequently lessen the stress level of the entire family unit. Therefore, you will learn parenting strategies specifically for a toddler with ADHD, and you will also find out how to seek help for your child, the right questions to ask, and what to expect from Early Intervention services, therapeutic/psychiatric services, and day care and school-based services. The school interventions listed can mostly all be applied to older children and adolescents as well!

This book is a complete resource for parents and teachers. Donna Mac has an easy and clear writing style that simultaneously shares research findings and clinical advice along with her firsthand experience as a teacher, therapist, and a mom. Although the title refers to toddlers, the information Mac shares regarding brain research in ADHD, legal information for parents, and strategies for coping with and advocating for children with ADHD is applicable for kids of all ages, all the way through high school. As a parent, I found Mac's suggestions for making life easier at home brilliant and useful for parents of children with or without ADHD. She has practical advice for organizing your home, keeping routines, discipline, and even traveling! She also provides many real examples from her own life to illustrate how these strategies can be used.
As a teacher, I found that the information in this book was incredibly enlightening. Understanding why and how children with ADHD understand the world and the people around them really helped me empathize more with my students and with their parents. Learning to understand the struggles that children with ADHD can experience really helped me see my students' behaviors more clearly. They are not being defiant or disagreeable; they are just trying to cope with the many challenges that ADHD brings to the table. This book also provides strategies for parents and teachers to take away the stigma and judgment often experienced by children and their parents. I would recommend this book to any parent, teacher, or counselor who wants to have a more complete understanding of children of all ages with ADHD.

Toddlers ADHD Relief for Parents A Guide for Clinicians and Teachers Donna Mac 9781452592909 Books Reviews
I was very impressed with the amount of information provided in this book. It's a very comprehensive guide to Adhd in little ones. It's easy to read and explains a very touchy subject well. I wish I had read it earlier. I probably would not have second guessed myself so much and would not of make other mistakes.
What a fantastic resource for parents and teachers! This book goes beyond the typical manual outlining the clinical side of ADHD and really aims to speak to those who need guidance on a daily, minute by minute basis! While the author aims to take a closer look at the implications for parents of toddlers with ADHD, this book is a resource that reaches far beyond the toddler years. As a teacher, I found the section about navigating and advocating for your child within the realm of our school systems especially informative! I have also referenced many of the strategies outlined in this book when speaking to parents of students with ADHD across several grade levels.
As a parent, I appreciated the author's candidness and honesty when speaking about typical situations that ALL parents encounter. I have found many of the strategies to be applicable to both typically developing children and those with ADHD. This is a book I will reference again and again as my own children continue to grow and face new behavioral challenges. I highly recommend this book to parents and teachers of children of all ages!
Nice
Perfect condition. Thank you!
Very informative. Not exactly easy reading. Lots of citing people which makes it difficult to read but very interesting info.
The author is very candid and keeps the reader engaged by adding humor into many situations in the book- Many parents can relate to these situations that toddlers get into- especially out in public! The book is also comprehensive in the sense that it describes symptoms toddlers exhibit that LOOK like ADHD- and why the symptoms might be ADHD or that they might be from something else all together- Regardless of where the symptoms are coming from, the author offers parenting strategies to help!
This is a very complete book. As the mom of four children, two with serious mental illnesses, I was pleased to find such a comprehensive resource being offered out there to families new to this journey. When research and academia meet personal experience, magic happens. Insightful in its offerings, this book speaks to parents on an emotional level, rather than just an academic one. Any parent that has concerns about their child's behavior and what to do with those potential concerns will have a wealth of resource at their fingertips in this book. Congratulations to Donna Mac for this accomplishment!
